NBA Regular Season Kicks Off with Thunder vs. Spurs

The NBA regular season has commenced with a notable matchup featuring the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs, concluding a triple-header of games.

This game serves as a rematch of the 2026 Western Conference Finals, where the Spurs triumphed in a seven-game series, ending the Thunder's title defense. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Thunder, who recently secured his second consecutive Most Valuable Player Award, averaged over 30 points per game for the fourth straight year, although he faced challenges against the Spurs, averaging 25.9 points in their playoff series.

As Gilgeous-Alexander enters his ninth NBA season, he is expected to face tough competition for the MVP title from his opponent, Victor Wembanyama, who is also making his season debut.
