NCAA Concludes Investigation into Brendan Sorsby Betting Case
The NCAA has finalized its investigation into Brendan Sorsby's gambling activities during his time at the University of Cincinnati, concluding that the university did not violate any rules.
The inquiry was initiated after claims from Sorsby's agent that Cincinnati had knowledge of his betting conduct for two years without taking action. According to Cincinnati's senior associate athletic director for communications, the investigation revealed a Level III violation by Sorsby, but this did not implicate the university.
Sorsby's gambling issues became public following his transfer to Texas Tech, where the NCAA subsequently revoked his eligibility. Although he secured an injunction to play, Texas Tech was pressured to withdraw support for this plan. Sorsby then sought entry into the supplemental draft, but the NFL's refusal to hold such a draft has left him unable to participate in professional or college football until 2027. An agreement was later reached between Sorsby and the NFL, allowing him to enter the draft next April.
