Neeraj Chopra Set to Compete at Lausanne Diamond League

Neeraj Chopra, a two-time Olympic medallist, will participate in the Lausanne Diamond League on August 21, where he will encounter a highly competitive men's javelin field. Among his rivals is Rumesh Pathirage, the Commonwealth Games champion from Sri Lanka.

The event will feature five athletes from the recent Commonwealth Games, including Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan, reigning world champion Keshorn Walcott from Trinidad and Tobago, former world champion Anderson Peters of Grenada, and Thomas Rohler, a former Olympic champion from Germany. Other notable competitors include Jakub Vadlejch from the Czech Republic, Julian Weber from Germany, Simon Wieland from Switzerland, and Curtis Thompson from the USA, who is currently ranked second in the world this season.

This competition marks Chopra's third outing since recovering from a lower-back injury. He began his season with a throw of 85.69m at the Doha Diamond League and improved to 85.83m to secure silver at the Commonwealth Games. Pathirage, who recently won the Commonwealth title with a throw of 89.75m, is in excellent form, having achieved a personal best of 92.62m earlier this season.
