Neeraj Chopra to Compete Against Rumesh Pathirage at Lausanne Diamond League
Neeraj Chopra and Rumesh Pathirage from Sri Lanka are set to compete at the Lausanne Diamond League in Switzerland on Friday, where qualification for the Diamond League Final in Brussels is on the line.
This matchup comes shortly after their recent encounter at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where Pathirage secured the gold medal and Chopra took silver. Pathirage has had a strong season, winning eight out of nine competitions, including Diamond League events in Doha and Rome, and achieving a personal best throw of 92.62m.
Chopra is working on his fitness after recovering from a lower back injury that has affected him since last September. Although he was not fully fit during the Commonwealth Games, he managed a season-best throw of 85.83m. He is currently training in Biel, Switzerland, with his coach and physiotherapist, aiming to improve his performance in Lausanne.
