Nets' Chaney Johnson Shows Mixed Performance in Start for Injured Egor Dëmin
Egor Dëmin will be sidelined for at least a week due to a right leg bone bruise, impacting the Brooklyn Nets' performance in their recent game against the Detroit Pistons, which ended in a 110-94 defeat.
In response to Dëmin's absence, Nets coach Jordi Fernández opted for Chaney Johnson, a 6-foot-7, 235-pound player, to start in the backcourt for only the second time in his career. Johnson's defensive capabilities were evident as he helped contain Pistons star Cade Cunningham, who scored 20 points but struggled with four turnovers.
Johnson recorded six points, a steal, and a block in 18 minutes of play. Despite his efforts, the team faced challenges in generating offensive plays, attributed to the lack of chemistry with new lineups. Michael Porter Jr. noted that the team needs to adapt to different positions in their playbook to improve execution. The Nets will next face the Pacers, who will be without star guard Tyrese Haliburton for at least two weeks due to injury.
