New Adelaide Street Circuit Layout Revealed for MotoGP
The new layout for the Adelaide street circuit, which will replace Phillip Island as the venue for the Australian MotoGP Grand Prix, has been officially revealed by South Australia Premier Peter Malinauskas.
This project, with an estimated completion date around November 2027, involves an investment of nearly €60 million (A$96 million). The circuit will span 4.13 kilometers and include 15 corners, incorporating elements from the previous Formula 1 track.
Concerns regarding the environmental impact have arisen, as the redevelopment will necessitate the removal of 42 significant trees and 335 others deemed regulated or invasive. However, 95% of the existing 8,895 trees in the area will remain untouched. A commitment to plant 10 new trees for each removed is also in place, aiming to address environmental concerns raised by local groups.
