The pursuit of an NHL team in Atlanta continues to evolve, with Anson Carter joining a new ownership group aiming to establish a franchise north of the city. This development comes as another ownership group has faced challenges in their efforts.

Reports indicate that Carter, who was previously associated with a group in Alpharetta, has separated from them and is now seeking a better location for the team. NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly confirmed Carter's interest and mentioned that he has demonstrated sufficient financing, although a specific site has not yet been selected.

Meanwhile, the Alpharetta Sports & Entertainment group, led by Vernon Krause, is also pursuing a team at The Gathering at South Forsyth. However, a recent press release from Krause's group was deemed premature, as the NHL clarified that no formal bid had been submitted. The NHL remains open to discussions, with Daly emphasizing the importance of a thorough market analysis for Atlanta.
