New Stadium Renderings for Chicago White Sox Unveiled

The Chicago White Sox, currently leading the American League Central, have unveiled plans for a new stadium in the South Loop of Chicago. This announcement was made by minority partner Justin Ishbia and Canal Edge, a development firm he oversees, showcasing renderings of the proposed facility.

The new stadium would be located less than three miles from the current home, Rate Field, which has hosted the team since 1991. Ishbia has a potential agreement with White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf to take over the team between 2029 and 2034, coinciding with the expiration of the current lease at Rate Field.

The proposed site, known as The Railyards, is situated across the Chicago River from a new stadium planned for the Chicago Fire MLS team. However, the announcement has faced criticism from local officials, including Cook County Commissioner John P. Daley and Ald. Nicole Lee, who labeled it a betrayal of the team's fanbase and expressed skepticism about the financing of the project.
