Newcastle United in Talks to Sign Amar Dedic from Benfica

Newcastle United is currently engaged in advanced negotiations to secure the signing of defender Amar Dedic from Benfica.

The club is looking for a new right-back after Kieran Trippier's exit to Wolves on a free transfer earlier this summer. Dedic, 23, has a prior connection with Newcastle manager Matthias Jaissle from their time at Red Bull Salzburg, where he played a key role in winning the Austrian Bundesliga title in 2023.

Discussions with Benfica are reportedly progressing, with Dedic valued at approximately £30 million. If the transfer is finalized, he may be available for Newcastle's season opener against Liverpool on August 23, as Tino Livramento is still recovering from a calf injury. Dedic has earned 31 caps for Bosnia and Herzegovina and was a notable performer in Portugal's Primeira Liga last season.
