Newcastle United Signs Amar Dedic from Benfica for £30m
Newcastle United has officially signed defender Amar Dedic from Benfica for around £30 million. The announcement came on Tuesday, coinciding with Dedic's 24th birthday, after he completed a medical examination on Tyneside.
Dedic has entered into a five-year agreement with the club and reunites with manager Matthias Jaissle, with whom he previously won the Austrian title at Red Bull Salzburg in 2023. He expressed excitement about joining Newcastle and emphasized the significance of playing at St James' Park.
The club sought a new right-back following Kieran Trippier's departure to Wolves. Dedic may be called to play in the upcoming season opener against Liverpool, as Tino Livramento is currently recovering from an injury.
