Newcastle United Signs Nico Gonzalez from Manchester City for £52 Million

Newcastle United has secured the signing of midfielder Nico Gonzalez from Manchester City for an initial fee of £48 million, with an additional £4 million in potential add-ons. This transfer marks the seventh signing for Newcastle during the summer transfer window.

Gonzalez underwent a medical examination in Tyneside on Wednesday, and the announcement of his signing came just before Newcastle's EFL Cup match against West Brom. He is expected to debut in the Premier League against Tottenham on Saturday.

The 24-year-old midfielder previously made 59 appearances for Manchester City after joining from Porto in 2025, scoring four goals. His arrival is seen as a significant addition to Newcastle's midfield, especially following the departures of Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali. Gonzalez is anticipated to play a crucial role in the team's strategy under head coach Matthias Jaissle.
