Newcastle's Sporting Director Confirms No Plans to Sell Bruno Guimaraes

Newcastle United's sporting director Ross Wilson has confirmed that the club had no plans to sell captain Bruno Guimaraes during the summer transfer window.

Although a deal reportedly worth £75 million with Arsenal is in the works, Guimaraes has not yet been officially signed by the club. His potential departure follows the loss of other key players, including Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali, amid a period of significant change for Newcastle, which also saw the resignation of head coach Eddie Howe.

Wilson expressed that the decision to sell Guimaraes was not part of the club's strategy, emphasizing the player's importance as captain. He acknowledged that Guimaraes had indicated a desire to leave, which influenced their decision-making process regarding the transfer.
