NFL and EA Launch Virtual Stadium Sponsorship in Madden
The NFL and Electronic Arts announced a new initiative on Tuesday called the Madden NFL Virtual Stadium Sponsorship Program. This program will enable actual NFL sponsors to place their advertisements in the virtual stadiums featured in the Madden video game series.
All 32 NFL teams' official sponsors and league partners can participate by paying a fee to display their real-world ads in the game. Currently, only one brand has signed on for this program.
This move marks a new revenue opportunity for both EA and the NFL, as they look to capitalize on in-game advertising, which has been a long time coming. Players can expect to see increased advertising within the game they have purchased.
