NFL and NFLPA Investigate Jalen Hurts' Blood Clot Situation
The NFL and the NFL Players Association have announced a joint investigation into the Philadelphia Eagles' management of quarterback Jalen Hurts' health, specifically regarding his travel to London with a blood clot in his leg. This situation emerged following the Eagles' game against the Los Angeles Rams on October 4.
Hurts was cleared to travel to London for a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on October 11, despite the blood clot issue. The Eagles departed Philadelphia late Friday night and arrived in London Saturday morning. After a team meeting that evening, Hurts consulted with trainers and was taken to a hospital for an ultrasound, which confirmed the presence of a superficial clot. He returned to the hotel early Sunday morning before the game.
Following the Eagles' loss to the Jaguars, Hurts was allowed to fly back with the team. However, he has since been sidelined due to multiple blood clots found in his lungs. Although initial reports indicated the NFL would not penalize the Eagles, the NFLPA has called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Hurts' medical situation. The investigation aims to assess the handling of the case and improve future protocols for similar incidents.
