NFL and NFLPA Review Jalen Hurts' Medical Situation
The NFL and NFL Players Association announced on Sunday that they are collaborating to investigate the medical situation involving Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Hurts has been placed on injured reserve and is anticipated to miss the rest of the season due to a blood clot in his left calf that developed into deep vein thrombosis, affecting both lungs. He is prohibited from engaging in football activities until he is no longer on blood thinners.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Allen Sills defended the Eagles' decision to allow Hurts to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars on October 11, despite the earlier identification of a superficial blood clot. The Eagles reported that Hurts sustained his injury during a game against the Los Angeles Rams on October 4, and he informed the medical staff about it after practice on October 8.
