NFL Cancels Fine for Kyle Juszczyk's Touchdown Celebration
The NFL has revoked a $14,926 fine against Kyle Juszczyk, a tight end for the San Francisco 49ers, for what was initially deemed an offensive demonstration during a touchdown celebration in Week 2 against the Miami Dolphins.
The league had misinterpreted Juszczyk's celebration as an imitation of chugging a beer. However, Juszczyk clarified that the gesture was a tribute to his nickname, Juice. Following the game, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy expressed confusion over the fine, noting that he had seen Juszczyk perform the celebration for years.
This incident occurred after Juszczyk caught a touchdown pass that increased the 49ers' lead to 28-6 late in the third quarter. Additionally, the NFL reduced a previous fine against Juszczyk by approximately $4,000 for an infraction involving helmet use during the team's Week 1 victory over the Rams. The NFL has a history of rescinding fines, as seen in a similar case involving Joe Mixon in January 2025.
