NFL Places Packers' Jacobs and Broncos' Cooper on Exempt List

The NFL has placed running back Josh Jacobs of the Green Bay Packers and linebacker Jonathon Cooper of the Denver Broncos on the commissioner's exempt list, as reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter on Sunday.

Jacobs faces misdemeanour charges related to a physical confrontation with his girlfriend, while Cooper has been arrested twice over the summer and is facing five charges, including felony assault. This designation puts both players on indefinite paid leave, preventing them from participating in practices or games.

Jacobs, who had a strong previous season with 929 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns, has been confirmed on the exempt list by NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy. The Packers are set to begin their season on September 13 against the Minnesota Vikings. Earlier on Sunday, the Packers acquired running back Kaleb Johnson from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
