NFL Reduces Suspension for Rams' Alaric Jackson to One Game
The NFL has reduced Los Angeles Rams' left tackle Alaric Jackson's suspension from two games to one following an appeal. Jackson was initially suspended for a postgame altercation with Buffalo Bills linebacker Bradley Chubb after the Bills' overtime victory on Monday night.
The league's hearing officer, Derrick Brooks, announced the decision on Wednesday night, meaning Jackson will only miss the upcoming game against the Arizona Cardinals and forfeit $934,555 in salary, significantly less than the nearly $2 million he would have lost under the original suspension.
The incident began with a verbal exchange between Jackson and Chubb, which escalated when Jackson threw a punch. Chubb stated that he had initiated the conversation but denied making any inappropriate comments. This reduction in suspension is notable, as the NFL rarely decreases penalties, especially for actions occurring outside the game context.
