NFL Suspends Bills DB Sam Franklin for Spitting Incident
Sam Franklin, a defensive back for the Buffalo Bills, has received a one-game suspension without pay from the NFL for allegedly spitting at a Raiders opponent during a game last weekend. The league announced the suspension on Wednesday.
Franklin, who is known for his special teams contributions, intends to appeal the suspension, as he denies the allegations. The incident reportedly occurred after the Raiders scored an extra point in the fourth quarter of the Bills' 33-30 victory in Las Vegas.
This marks the second suspension for the Bills related to spitting, as starting safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson was also suspended for a similar violation during the same game. Gardner-Johnson was ejected in the second quarter for his actions, which were captured on television. The suspensions will take effect on October 26, coinciding with the Bills' bye week.
