NFL Veteran Bob McKay Dies at 78

Bob McKay, a former NFL player known for his time with the Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots, died on September 10 at the age of 78. He had a notable career as an offensive tackle, playing nine seasons in the league.

Born on December 27, 1947, in Crane, Texas, McKay was selected 21st overall in the 1970 NFL Draft. He played six seasons with the Browns, reaching the playoffs twice, and later joined the Patriots, contributing to a significant turnaround in the team's performance during the 1976 season.

McKay was also celebrated for his collegiate career with the Texas Longhorns, where he was part of the 1969 National Championship team. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2017, recognized for his leadership and impact on the field. McKay is survived by his wife, Donna, their two children, and eight grandchildren.
