NFLPA Calls for Investigation into Eagles' Handling of Jalen Hurts' Medical Situation
The NFL Players Association has requested an investigation into the Philadelphia Eagles' management of quarterback Jalen Hurts' medical situation after he was diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs, which will end his season.
This issue arose after it was revealed that the Eagles discovered a superficial blood clot just hours before Hurts played against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on October 11. Hurts had reported calf pain prior to the game, raising ethical concerns about his participation.
Despite the NFLPA's concerns, the NFL has stated that it is not investigating the Eagles' handling of Hurts' care. NFL executives defended the Eagles' medical staff, asserting that player health was prioritized. However, critics, including sports journalist Michael Silver, have expressed skepticism about the decisions made regarding Hurts' treatment and travel.
