During the NHL's European Media Tour in Munich, Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly shared insights about the league's potential expansion, indicating that a 33rd team could be established by the 2029-30 season.

Daly mentioned ongoing discussions with an ownership group interested in Texas, prioritizing Houston while considering Austin as an alternative. He expressed optimism about reaching definitive agreements by December, aiming for the franchise to begin play in early 2029.

Additionally, Daly noted that interest in expansion within Canada is currently low, with no significant ownership groups stepping forward for franchises in cities like Quebec City, which previously submitted an expansion bid in 2015.
