Nick Chubb Retires as One of NFL's Elite Running Backs
Nick Chubb announced his retirement on Friday, concluding a notable career as one of only four running backs in NFL history to achieve over 1,000 carries while averaging more than five yards per carry.
Chubb's career statistics include 7,349 rushing yards on 1,462 carries, resulting in an average of 5.03 yards per carry. He joins Jamaal Charles, Jim Brown, and Joe Perry in this elite group, with Charles holding the highest average at 5.38 yards per carry.
Chubb began his NFL journey with the Cleveland Browns in 2018, consistently averaging over five yards per carry for six seasons. However, a significant knee injury in 2023 impacted his performance, ultimately leading to his retirement without Hall of Fame recognition despite his impressive achievements.
