Nick Knowles Invests in Cornish Pirates with Premiership Ambitions
Nick Knowles, a TV presenter known for shows like DIY SOS, has recently invested in the Cornish Pirates, a Championship rugby club based in Penzance. He believes the team has the potential to become a sustainable Premiership club.
Knowles is among several new investors who have joined the Pirates over the past year, following a stake acquisition by American firm Stonewood Capital Management in May. The club was previously taken over by a consortium of local businessmen in January 2025.
He emphasized the historical significance of rugby in Cornwall, referencing the 1991 County Championship final win and the strong local fan base. Knowles aims to rally support from the community to elevate the Pirates to the top tier of English rugby, while also highlighting the economic benefits a Premiership team could bring to the region.
