Nick Kyrgios Admits to Cocaine Use, Faces Provisional Suspension
Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios has disclosed that he tested positive for cocaine and is currently facing a provisional suspension from tennis. This announcement follows a lower-level tournament in Mallorca where the positive test occurred in June.
Kyrgios, who reached the Wimbledon final in 2022, accepted full responsibility for his actions in a statement shared on social media. He noted that the sample was collected on June 22, and the positive result was confirmed on July 17, after he had already participated in Wimbledon.
The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) imposed the provisional suspension on August 4, which Kyrgios has not appealed. The agency is now managing the case as Kyrgios continues to address his recent struggles with injuries and his current ranking, which has dropped to 919th in the world.
