Nicki Thiim Criticizes DTM and AMG After Nurburgring Race
Nicki Thiim, an Aston Martin driver, expressed his anger after finishing 11th in the DTM race at the Nurburgring. He accused Mercedes-AMG of instructing Tom Kalender to impede his progress, claiming that the situation was a disgrace.
Thiim's frustration peaked during a battle for ninth place with Kalender, which he felt was unfairly managed. He described an incident where he was forced off track and criticized the lack of sportsmanship, suggesting that Kalender's actions were aimed at supporting his teammates in the title race.
Thiim also voiced concerns about the Balance of Performance in the DTM, stating that different manufacturers receive unequal treatment. He is currently fourth in the overall standings, trailing the leader Maro Engel by 30 points. Kalender responded to Thiim's accusations, noting that he did not block Thiim during their encounter.
