Nico Daws Debuts for Jets Amidst Tough Loss
Nico Daws made his debut as the goaltender for the Winnipeg Jets during the third period of a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night, replacing Stuart Skinner with the team trailing 5-1.
In his first appearance, Daws recorded nine saves, contributing to a near comeback as the Jets ultimately lost the match 6-4. Daws was acquired from the New Jersey Devils last week as part of the trade involving Connor Hellebuyck.
Prior to joining the Jets, Daws had played 59 games with the Devils since his NHL debut in the 2021-22 season, holding a .872 save percentage and a 2.78 goals-against average in four starts. The Jets have now faced seven consecutive losses, with Skinner making 16 saves on 21 shots before being replaced.
