Niklas Norgaard Leads DP World India Championship Amid Rain Delays
Niklas Norgaard of Denmark emerged as the leader on the first day of the DP World India Championship held at the Delhi Golf Club, posting a six-under-par 66 despite rain interruptions that caused nearly five hours of lost play.
Norgaard's round included an eagle on the first hole and two consecutive birdies to finish. He expressed a desire to adopt a more aggressive strategy after starting on the back nine.
In the standings, Tom McKibbin, Thomas Detry, and Eugenio Chacarra are tied for second place with scores of five-under-par 67. Rory McIlroy finished tied for 13th with a two-under-par 70, while Om Prakash Chouhan was the top Indian player with a four-under-par 68. A long day of 36 holes is expected for the 12 players who did not tee off.
