No Witnesses to Testify at Jerry Sandusky's Hearing

A judge has ruled that an evidentiary hearing for Jerry Sandusky will proceed on September 8, despite his request to cancel it. The former Penn State football assistant coach is appealing to federal court, and no witnesses are expected to testify during the hearing.

This means that Ryan Rittmeyer, known as Victim 10 in Sandusky's 2012 trial, will not present his recantation of previous testimony regarding allegations of sexual abuse. Rittmeyer had stated in an affidavit that he lacked a clear memory of the events during his initial police interview and suggested that prosecutors had pressured him to reconsider his recollections.

Sandusky's attorneys have opted to withdraw the recantation claim and will instead have him attend the hearing remotely to confirm his understanding of this decision. The former coach, now 82, has expressed a desire to seek relief in federal court, citing a lack of faith in the state judicial system following his 2012 conviction on multiple counts of sexual abuse.
