North Melbourne Parts Ways with Coach Alastair Clarkson

North Melbourne has announced the departure of senior coach Alastair Clarkson, who was under contract until 2027. The decision was confirmed by president Dr. Sonja Hood, who emphasized the need for a new direction as the club aims for future success.

Hood noted that there was insufficient belief among key stakeholders regarding Clarkson's ability to lead the team effectively. General Manager of Football Todd Viney elaborated on the challenges faced, indicating that the coaching approach became overwhelming for players, leading to confusion and a lack of cohesion.

Despite acknowledging Clarkson's contributions to the club's stability since 2023, Hood stated that the team requires a coach suited for modern gameplay. The club has not yet identified a preferred candidate for the position.
