North Melbourne Reflects on Unsuccessful Trade for Nick Murray
North Melbourne's efforts to secure defender Nick Murray from Adelaide ended without a successful trade as the deadline passed at 7:30pm (AEDT), leaving Murray to return to the Crows for the 2027 season.
The Kangaroos proposed a package that included Picks 33, 49, a first-round selection for 2027, and a fourth-round pick, but Adelaide opted to retain Murray. North Melbourne's list boss, Brady Rawlings, expressed uncertainty about how close the negotiations were to a deal.
Despite their efforts, including discussions with GWS and Port Adelaide to facilitate a trade, North Melbourne could not finalize an agreement. Rawlings noted that while they were focused on strengthening their backline, they were still able to acquire Nick Blakey earlier in the week, maintaining some of their draft capital.
