Nottingham Forest Completes Club-Record Signing of Liam Delap from Chelsea
Nottingham Forest has reached an agreement for a club-record transfer of £50m to sign Liam Delap from Chelsea. The striker, who moved to Chelsea last summer, managed to score only two goals in 41 appearances for the club.
The deal is reported to be worth at least £45m, with potential add-ons that could bring the total to £50m. Delap is expected to undergo a medical examination on Wednesday.
Interest in Delap was noted from several Premier League teams, including Everton, but Nottingham Forest secured his signing. Chelsea originally acquired Delap for £30m from Ipswich and could see a £20m profit from this transfer. Nottingham Forest aims to bolster their attacking options following the departure of Taiwo Awoniyi to Coventry.
