Novak Djokovic Faces Unexpected Defeat to Hubert Hurkacz at Shanghai Masters

Novak Djokovic experienced an unexpected second-round defeat to Hubert Hurkacz at the Shanghai Masters, occurring only three days after his victory at the China Open in Beijing.

Djokovic, who received a first-round bye as the tournament's 10th seed, lost to Hurkacz, ranked 34th in the world, with a score of 6-4, 6-3 in 87 minutes. This marked the first time Hurkacz triumphed over Djokovic in their nine career encounters.

Despite his recent success in Beijing, where he claimed his 102nd title, Djokovic's performance in Shanghai was hindered by fatigue, having played six matches in ten days. His defeat complicates his chances of qualifying for the ATP Finals, as he currently sits ninth in the standings.
