Novak Djokovic's ATP Finals Chances Diminish After Loss to Jan-Lennard Struff
Novak Djokovic's aspirations for a record 19th appearance at the ATP Finals have taken a hit after he lost to Jan-Lennard Struff at the Swiss Indoors in Basel. This match marked Djokovic's return to the tournament for the first time since 2011.
The 39-year-old Djokovic fell in a closely contested match with scores of 6-7 (4-7), 7-5, and 7-6 (7-5), marking Struff's first victory over him in nine encounters. Struff expressed satisfaction with his performance, noting the need to play his best tennis to secure the win.
Following this defeat, Djokovic currently ranks 11th in the standings, outside the top 10 for the first time since 2018. He is 319 points behind Rafael Jodar, who holds the final qualifying position for the ATP Finals. Djokovic has a chance to improve his ranking at the upcoming Paris Masters in November.
