Nvidia to Acquire Hugging Face for $12.9 Billion

Nvidia has reached an agreement to acquire the AI firm Hugging Face for $12.9 billion, a strategic move that enhances the company's capabilities in the AI sector beyond just hardware.

Hugging Face has gained significant traction, now serving 18 million users and providing an open-source platform for collaborative machine learning. Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang stated that Hugging Face will continue to operate as an open platform for the AI ecosystem.

This acquisition is part of a broader trend in the AI industry, where companies are rapidly securing open models. This deal is Nvidia's second-largest acquisition, following a $20 billion agreement to purchase assets from Groq and a $6 billion deal with Poolside for open-weight model development.
