Ohio State and Oregon Lead AP Top 25 Preseason Rankings
Ohio State and Oregon have claimed the top two positions in The Associated Press Top 25 preseason rankings, a first for the Big Ten Conference in 65 years. The rankings were released on Monday, with Ohio State receiving 40 first-place votes and Oregon 14 from a panel of 69 media members.
This marks the ninth time Ohio State has started a season ranked No. 1, the first since 2015, tying them with Alabama for the second-most preseason No. 1 rankings, behind Oklahoma's 10. Oregon's ranking is the highest in its program's history, surpassing its previous best of No. 3.
Georgia, Notre Dame, and Texas complete the top five, while defending national champion Indiana is ranked sixth. The Southeastern Conference leads with nine teams in the Top 25, including five in the top ten, a first since 2013. The Big Ten has had two of the top three teams in the preseason rankings for four consecutive years.
