Ohio State Buckeyes Face Quarterback Challenge After Injury
The Ohio State Buckeyes are facing a significant challenge in their 2026 season after starting quarterback Julian Sayin was announced to be out indefinitely due to a right elbow injury. This injury occurred during a game against the Indiana Hoosiers, where Sayin was hurt on a quarterback sack in the fourth quarter.
Sayin, a Heisman Trophy candidate, had to leave the game and returned to the sidelines with his arm in a sling. Reports suggest he may miss the remainder of the regular season and potentially the postseason. With Sayin unavailable, the Buckeyes will turn to true freshman Luke Fahey and redshirt freshman Tavien St. Clair, both of whom have limited experience.
Fahey, who has played in two games this season, has completed 9 of 13 passes for 203 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. St. Clair, a former five-star recruit, has only seen action in one game, completing 5 of 7 passes for 52 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. If Sayin's season is over, he will conclude with 2,007 yards and 19 touchdowns in seven games.
