Oilers' Isaac Howard Injured After Collision with Islanders' Emil Heineman
During a game against the New York Islanders, Edmonton Oilers forward Isaac Howard was injured in a knee-on-knee collision with defenceman Emil Heineman. The incident occurred less than three minutes into the first period, forcing Howard to leave the ice unable to put weight on his left leg.
Heineman received a five-minute major penalty and was ejected from the game following a review of the incident by officials. Despite the power play, the Oilers were unable to score. Howard, who had recorded one goal and two assists in 12 games prior to this match, was later ruled out for the remainder of the game.
The Oilers are scheduled to play against the New York Rangers the following day.
