Oliver Bearman to Use New Ferrari F1 Engine at Haas

Haas driver Oliver Bearman will be the only one using Ferrari's upgraded power unit at the Italian Grand Prix, as team principal Ayao Komatsu explains the decision.

Oliver Bearman is set to be the sole Haas driver utilizing Ferrari's upgraded Formula 1 power unit during the Italian Grand Prix, while Esteban Ocon will not receive the upgrade. Team principal Ayao Komatsu clarified the reasoning behind this decision.

The new powertrain upgrade is Ferrari's second of the year, introduced under the ADUO regulations. Although Ferrari is obligated to supply new parts to its customers, it is not required to provide enough for both Haas drivers, resulting in only one unit being available for the team.

Komatsu noted that Bearman was chosen for the upgrade because Ocon had received previous enhancements ahead of Bearman on two occasions. He acknowledged that while Bearman's current lead in the drivers' championship was a factor, the decision was influenced by Ocon's struggles with brake-locking and power steering in recent races. Komatsu expressed frustration with the regulations that necessitated selecting one driver for the upgrade.
