Oregon High School Football Coach Dismissed After Controversial Onside Kicks
Zach LoBoy has been dismissed from his role as head football coach at Marist Catholic High School in Oregon following a controversial game on October 9, where his team won 63-0 against Cottage Grove High School.
During the match, LoBoy opted to attempt two onside kicks, one occurring while his team was ahead by 57 points in the second quarter. The school's principal, Bob Fraley, informed parents via email that the decision to remove LoBoy was made to align with the school's mission and values.
Fraley acknowledged the challenges of changing coaches mid-season but expressed confidence in Jake Lowther, who will take over the program. Lowther's first game as head coach is scheduled for Friday against North Bend High School.
