Orioles Acquire Outfielder Rece Hinds from Marlins
The Baltimore Orioles have announced the acquisition of outfielder Rece Hinds from the Miami Marlins for cash considerations. This move comes as the Orioles look to fill opportunities on their roster, which currently has one spot available on the 40-man list.
This marks Hinds' second trade of the season; he was previously moved from the Cincinnati Reds to the Marlins in late May after being designated for assignment. During his brief stint with Miami, he played one game, recording no hits and maintaining a high strikeout rate of 50% in the majors this year.
At 25 years old, Hinds has demonstrated significant power potential, although it has been accompanied by a high strikeout rate of 42.1% over three seasons in the big leagues. He has performed better at the Triple-A level this year, striking out 27.6% of the time. The Orioles are evaluating Hinds as they have available at-bats in the outfield following the trade of Taylor Ward to Seattle, and he may join the MLB roster in the coming weeks.
