Orioles Assign Luis Vazquez to Triple-A After Clearing Waivers

Infielder Luis Vazquez has been outrighted to Triple-A after clearing waivers, as announced by the Baltimore Orioles. This decision follows his designation for assignment earlier in the week when the team added outfielder Luis Robert Jr. to the roster.

Vazquez participated in one game for the Orioles, where he pinch-ran and scored the game-winning run. However, with the return of utility player Blaze Alexander and the increased playing time for Christian Encarnacion-Strand, the Orioles found no clear role for him. Vazquez opted to remain within the Baltimore organization instead of electing free agency.

Previously, Vazquez spent most of his career with the Chicago Cubs, making his MLB debut in 2024. He was traded to the Orioles before the 2025 season and played 36 games last year, but struggled offensively with a .160 batting average. He has a .404 OPS over 48 games in his MLB career.
