Orioles Assign Sam Huff to Triple-A Norfolk
Sam Huff, a catcher for the Orioles, has cleared waivers and accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Norfolk. This decision follows his designation for assignment by the team last week.
Huff has struggled this season, posting a batting average of .121 with 34 plate appearances and striking out 19 times. Since 2020, he has a career batting line of .232 with 12 home runs. Initially signed by the Orioles in January as a depth option, he had brief stints in the majors earlier this year before being designated for assignment.
Currently, the Orioles are managing injuries to their primary catchers, Adley Rutschman and Samuel Basallo. With both players on the injured list, the team is utilizing Jake Rogers and Yohel Pozo behind the plate. Huff's presence in the organization provides additional depth as the team navigates this situation.
