Orioles' Colin Selby Undergoes Surgery, Ryan Mountcastle's Season in Doubt
Colin Selby's 2026 season has concluded without him pitching, as he underwent surgery on his right labrum and rotator cuff, according to Orioles president Mike Elias. This procedure will keep Selby on the injured list into the 2027 season.
Selby has struggled with shoulder issues since early Spring Training, leading to the surgery. He has a career ERA of 6.20 over 45 innings but showed improvement with a 2.50 ERA in 18 innings for Baltimore since his acquisition in July 2024.
Ryan Mountcastle's season is also in jeopardy due to a significant oblique strain. Although there is a slim chance he could return this season, his recovery is expected to take a couple of months. Mountcastle has had a challenging time recently, with limited appearances this season due to a foot fracture and previous injuries. In more positive news, injured catchers Adley Rutschman and Samuel Basallo are reportedly making progress in their recoveries.
