Orioles Extend Contract with Yennier Cano
The Baltimore Orioles have announced a two-year contract extension for right-hander Yennier Cano, covering the 2027 and 2028 seasons, with an additional club option for 2029. The total value of the guaranteed contract is $7.5 million, while the club option is set at $10 million.
Cano, who will earn $2.75 million in 2027 and $4.75 million in 2028, was previously under arbitration control through 2028. This extension allows the Orioles to secure an extra year of control over Cano.
Since joining the Orioles in a trade in 2022, Cano has experienced a fluctuating performance trajectory. After a strong 2023 season with a 2.11 ERA, his performance dipped in 2025 but has rebounded in 2026, where he currently holds a 2.21 ERA. Despite his solid results, he has not been utilized in high-leverage situations, indicating the Orioles' cautious approach to his deployment.
