Orioles Release Left-Hander Nick Raquet

The Baltimore Orioles have announced the release of left-handed pitcher Nick Raquet, who was designated for assignment the previous day. Raquet has cleared unconditional release waivers and is now available for any team to sign.

Following his designation, the Orioles had limited options due to Raquet being on the minor league injured list with an elbow injury. With the trade deadline having passed, a trade was not feasible, and since injured players cannot be placed on outright waivers, the team opted for his release.

Raquet's major league experience is minimal, having pitched only 5 2/3 innings for the Cardinals and Orioles, during which he allowed three earned runs. However, he has performed well in the minors, posting a 2.90 earned run average over 96 1/3 innings since the start of last season, with a strikeout rate of 27.3% and a walk rate of 6.2%.
