Orioles Sign Jayvien Sandridge to Minor League Contract
The Baltimore Orioles have signed left-handed pitcher Jayvien Sandridge to a minor league contract for the 2027 season. Sandridge, who turns 28 in February, was already part of the Orioles' system but became eligible for minor league free agency.
In 2026, Sandridge began the season with the New York Yankees but was designated for assignment in January. He was subsequently traded to the Los Angeles Angels for cash, only to be designated again at the end of spring training. This led to another cash deal that brought him to Baltimore. He spent most of the 2026 season on the minor league injured list, with his last game occurring on May 1.
Despite a limited major league experience, having pitched only one game for the Yankees in 2025, the Orioles are keen to maintain their relationship with Sandridge. His minor league statistics show a 3.93 earned run average over 201 1/3 innings from 2022 to 2025, with a notable strikeout rate of 33.8% but a high walk rate of 17%. The Orioles are currently evaluating their left-handed relief options, with Sandridge providing depth as they prepare for the offseason.
