Oscar Piastri Comments on McLaren's Crash at Singapore Grand Prix Sprint
The McLaren team faced a disastrous end to the Singapore Grand Prix sprint race, marked by a crash between drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. After a 30-minute delay due to heavy rain, the two were positioned in fourth and fifth place when the incident occurred on the final lap.
Norris attempted an overtaking maneuver on Piastri at Turn 5, resulting in a collision that forced Piastri to retire from the race. Norris managed to continue but fell to eighth place, earning only one championship point. The FIA is currently investigating Norris for causing the collision.
Despite the implications for the Constructors' standings, where McLaren trails Scuderia Ferrari by 89 points, Piastri expressed a calm perspective on the incident. He noted the significant repair work required for both cars and shifted focus to the team's efforts to fix the damage before the main qualifying session.
