Oscar Piastri Faces Potential Penalty in Monza Qualifying

Oscar Piastri's third-place position on the grid for the Italian Grand Prix is at risk following a summons to the Formula 1 stewards for allegedly impeding Liam Lawson during qualifying at Monza.

The incident occurred late in Q2 when Lawson, driving for Red Bull as a replacement for the injured Isack Hadjar, was preparing for his final lap. Piastri, on an out-lap, slowed to let Lawson's teammate Max Verstappen pass but then positioned himself ahead of Lawson, causing a delay as they exited the chicane.

Lawson finished Q2 in 14th place and will start from the back of the grid due to new power unit components introduced by Red Bull. Piastri qualified third, behind Pierre Gasly and George Russell, but his position is now under scrutiny after both drivers were called to meet with the stewards regarding a potential breach of FIA regulations.
