Oscar Piastri Reflects on Challenges with McLaren's 2025 F1 Regulations
McLaren driver Oscar Piastri has shared that the driving techniques that previously positioned him as a contender for the 2025 Formula 1 championship are now hindering his performance due to new regulations.
Currently ranked seventh in the championship with 138 points and without a grand prix victory this season, Piastri acknowledges the difficulty of adjusting to the car's demands. His teammate, Lando Norris, is ahead in the standings with 201 points. As the F1 circuit approaches its American triple-header, Piastri feels he is gradually becoming more comfortable with the vehicle.
In a recent press conference, Piastri noted that while he is not yet at his desired performance level, he is beginning to regain his competitive edge. He emphasized that the challenges this season stem more from personal adaptation than from significant changes to the car itself. Piastri's reflections come after a tough Singapore Grand Prix, where he indicated that McLaren lacks immediate solutions for the current season, with team principal Andrea Stella stating that substantial changes to the car will not occur until next year.
